I was able to catch the animated shorts nominated for Oscars this week. It was an interesting bunch, per usual. I think my fav was from the US called 95 Senses. I started reading this book called Guy's Girl and I can't decide if I like it or if the moody inner dialogue of the protagonists is annoyingly dramatic.

Are the shorts usually available in one place? I never kept track of them before, but I watched tons of doc ones this past year for CCA doc awards and now I think I'm a shorts person! I was wishing I'd watched the rest while watching the telecast last night.

I know nothing about this book but based on that description alone it sounds insufferable. So if you finish it, please tell me everything about it.

The Grand usually shows the animated shorts and the live action shorts a few times before the Oscars. There is some media company that distributes the shorts as a unit. The last two years I've googled "where to watch Oscar shorts" and someone has written an article compiling the viewing locations. I'll be happy to report back on the book.

Oh, I love that! I wonder if anywhere here does it too. I was thinking more about it and some of my first experiences in ~the industry were shorts-related since the women's center I worked on put on this women's shorts event called Lunafest and then I got to help judge shorts for a thing called Roxie Mixtape at the Roxie. So I guess I used to love them, quit paying attention, and now I'm back into them again!!
