What I'm Watching: Ahsoka, Ghostwatch, The Blob, and More
On six shows, two movies, and TSwift's nemesis.
The Blob, The Blob, Paramount Pictures
Here’s the rundown on everything I watched, read, and wrote about this past week:
The shows:
I caught the first two episodes of the new Star Wars show Ahsoka. I’m not a Star Wars person, but I always check out the new stuff for work, and I tend to mentally categorize it into shows and films that are trying to replicate decades-old Star Wars and shows and films that are trying to do something new. Personally, I’m only really interested in the latter, and I like Ahsoka well enough because it seems to fall into that category. It has a refreshingly spare script, some great music, and a talented cast. We’ll see if it keeps it up!
My docuseries watch continues: ESPN’s 30 For 30 series did a four-part docuseries on Bill Walton titled The Luckiest Guy in the World, and it’s definitely one of the wilder sports stories I’ve ever heard. I was wary of a show spending so much time on one guy, but Walton – a NBA Hall of Famer who’s also a Deadhead and social activist who was around for everything from Vietnam protests to the Patty Hearst scandal – certainly has an interesting enough life to fill that runtime.
